Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Business Billing Policies

Direct TV claims their policy for any billing disputes has to requested within 60 days. For example, if for the last 6 months they had been charging you for a HBO package but did not actually have it they would only give you credit for 2 months.

The policy for installation/service call disputes is 90 days. For example, if after the technician left your home and you didn't advise them of any problems you would be charged for any related future service calls.

I asked customer service where, in any of the paper work I signed, was that stated so I could read it for myself. She said the policies are not stated there. I requested a copy of each of the policies and Direct TV's answer was ''we do not send customers copies of our policies!''

I would like to know what the law is regarding this method of operation. What rights do consumers have in knowing a companies polices and their right to see it in writing.

Re: Business Billing Policies

You should check their website for the policy, or whatever papers you got when you opened the account. Ultimately, if you do not like it, you need to cancel your account.
