Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Business Failed to Return Items

Dry cleaner lost clothes. Owner refuses to reimburse. He states he just purchased business and the order was placed before he owned it (4 days). Is this owner responsible?

Re: Business Failed to Return Items

It depends on the terms of his agreement with the previous owner. Nevertheless, you might make a claim with your homeowners/renters insurance policy if the clothes had substantial value.

The new owner should consider accommodating you (or meeting you in the middle) as a practical matter, if he wants to keep your business. It probably would be worth it for him to do so.
