Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
In California, are used car buyers responsible for any unpaid parking tickets on vehicles they purchase? From a dealership? From a private seller? If so, how may a buyer do a prudent background check for verification of any such unpaid fines BEFORE the purchase?

When entering into an agreement with the seller, a clause might be inserted in the purchase agreement stating, in effect that "the dealer shall be responsible for any unpaid parking tickets by any previous owner, and shall indemnify and hold harmless the buyer for all such charges."
I'm not certain how you may check up on this, though.
