Cancelled check after service rendered
Can somebody legally put stop payment on a check after service is completed? Somebody stopped payment on a check for flooring work once the work was complete. Are there recourses other than going to court?

You may be able to put a mechanic's lien on the property, but that will not force immediate payment. If the bill is 5k or less, demand payment in writing if you have not done so and file in small claims. Sometimes people need a court date to get motivated.
