Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Car damaged at AAMCO and transmission isn't right

On November 8, 2006 I took my car to AAMCO to have the transmission repaired. They kept my car until June 4, 2007. The paint was a scratched and dinged, the carpet was ripped 6-8 inches, the small console container was not reattached (found it behind the drivers seat) under the dash on drivers side, a very large bracket is hanging down by one screw, electrical wires are hanging down, my headlight switch no longer works, and the blinker arm just flops around. Along with transmission not properly fixed, they didn't hook up my backup lights to the reverse gear. My car will only work with Bosch plugs (mfg guide) and they were replaced with unknowns and they tried to adjust the rotary cap to make it work. My car has been towed 3 times in 10 days. Can I stop my payment to them that I put on my Visa? They say they will fix everything, but haven't heard from them since day of pick up. They also want me to help pay for carpet replacement. This carpet snaps together so that major wear/tear areas could be replaced easily, but they destroyed the console carpet. I feel these issues are being avoided.

I am very ill and have 3 Dr. appts. per week, I cannot be without transportation. I have no one to drive me.

Just dispute it with VISA. Then, document your damage, get an estimate for repairs, and send them a demand letter. If you do not get a response in 10 days, sue them in small claims court.

All of that being said, your car was there for 8 months? That is an awful long time.
