Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Used Car Sales
I am interested in buying a used car from a private party in Northern CA. The only issue is that she would like to keep the car for an extra 3 weeks before handing it over. If I make her an offer, what kind of contract should I propose? Should I give her a small deposit (the car value is 7,000) until the car can be handed over?
Thanks!

Re: Used Car Sales
dont buy it until she is ready to hand it over. as owner you would be responsible for any accidents she might get it.

Re: Used Car Sales
Do a contract indicating that you will not own the automobile until she is ready to deliver it to you. A VERY small deposit ($100 max.) will make it a legal contract. Do not allow her to drive the car after a sale.
