Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Cashing checks
Is it illegal if someone cashes a check that is under that person's and another person's name without their signature? What if it's a spouses signature?

Re: Cashing checks
You could be charged with forgery and/or identity theft (as well as being civilly liable). If the bank cashes it without the other signature(s), both you and the bank could be civilly liable. That one of the payees is your spouse makes no difference.
