Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
consumer law
If a credit card account has been put in collections and it has been sold to another lender so that the fees and penalties are not what the original debt was, can the new collector pursue the consumer for these fees and not even mention that the original account was way less than they are trying to collect. They are trying to make a huge profit and they are not the original card holder. is this legal?

Re: consumer law
Penalties continue until a debt is collected. You will owe more than the original debt, but the penalties are probably negotiable.
