Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
consumer law
I purchased a class, software and mentoring program from Whitney Education and did not use the service as I was unhappy with the company. I requested a refund and returned the software and books they sent me. The sale was over the phone. I am in CA and the company is Utah. They say I'm not entitled to a refund because I only had 3 days to cancel. I was never given any notice of this cancelation policy. Have I lost my money or is there a law about this? If there is a law could you tell me where I could find that it written? It has been 14 months. For the better part of a year they ignored me once they had my money.
Thank you.

Re: consumer law
How long has it been since you bought it? Generally, you may have a 3 day right to cancel the contract. If you waited for more than that, you may need to talk to an Utah attorney about what rights you have under Utah law.
Re: consumer law
Depending on how much you paid and depending on the manner in which you came to find this company (or they came to find you), you may be able to sue in California.
That assumes the seller made representations (which induced you to buy) and that the course failed to live up to those representations.
