Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Contract agreement broken

My wife and I recently applied at a local car dealership to buy a car. We picked out a vehicle and went in to negotiations. We put down 500 dollars and they appraised our trade in vehicle at 500 dollars tottaling $1000.00 down. over the next three months we had to resign the contract a few times and we went through a bunch of loops. Finally they said they could not get the loan financed so we needed to return our vehicle. When we went back they gave us 1000 in cash and said they had already sold our trade in. The contract specifically said that if they could not finance the loan they would give us our down payemtn and any vehicles used for trade in. when challenged they ''called'' their lawers and the lawers ''said'' that they could substitute the trade in for money. We threatened with a lawsuit and he said go ahead, they have 6 top lawers, he threatened to charge us for the three months of no payments and said we would just waste our money getting a lawer. So I finally recsinded the contract and cashed the check. I want to know if there is anything I can do because this left us without a car and I have been told that it is not too late to take legal action.

Re: Contract agreement broken

It all depends on the contract. An attorney would have to review the paperwork you signed to determine if you have any rights to enforce at this time.
