Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
contract with uhaul was breeched
i rented a uhaul truck to move from long beach, ca to emeryville, ca. while
driving it began to get extremely hot. i had two cats in the truck with me and
i tried to turn the AC on only to find that it was not working. i was promised
AC as well as emergency road side service. my cats began to suffer from a
heat stroke. their condition was getting worse and worse. i drove 50 miles to
the nearest vet clinic and the doctor told me if i had not made it when i did
they would have died. i tried several times to phone emergency roadside svc
and they said AC was nto an emergency. i explained my sitaution and they
refused to help and send a mechanic out to svc the vehicle. my cats were on
the verge of death and the doctor said they MUSt be in an air conditioned
vehicle but uhaul refused to consider it an emergency and send out a
mechanic to help. my cats, myself, and my husband suffered major emotional
distress and financial loss due to this incident.

Re: contract with uhaul was breeched
Being an animal lover, I can imagine the distress you went through. This sounds like a matter for small claims court. Bring your U-Haul contract or paperwork, as well as the veterinarian bills to the small claims court that services the area where you leased the vehicle. That is where you would file the case. Good luck to you, and I'm glad your cats have some more lives left.
