Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Contractor did a bad job on my fence
I hired a licensed contractor to fix my condo fence. I asked for a complete new fence. When they fixed the fence, they only replaced part of it and did a terrible job. They reused the wood that was already on my fence which had termite damage. They are now billinng me for $1500 on a fence that they spent about $150 of wood on and about 3 hours of labor. I never signed anything but now they are sending me late notices. I've asked them to come out and look at the fence to discuss it but no one is willing to come. Do I have to pay the bill and can they hurt my credit?

Re: Contractor did a bad job on my fence
The terms of the service contract would be legally controlling here. If you feel you were "ripped off", or the contractors were in breach, you should retain legal counsel to send the contractors at issue a legal validation of debt letter. Failure to address the invoice at issue could adversely affect your credit reports.
