Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Can coupons legally expire in California? I have a coupon that expired yesterday (10/31/10) for $25 of a purchase of $50 or more from Casual Male and their manager said they would not be able to honor it. I was told by a friend that coupons could not legally expire and the company should honor it. They have accepted expired coupons before and I wonder why it is at their discretion?

Actually technically it is not even a contract, nor even an offer, but rather an offer to accept offers on those terms, just as any advertised price. There are bait and switch laws against purposely advertising prices and then refusing to honor them, but it must be a pattern and practice. What you are probably confusing is the California law that gift cards cannot expire.
