Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Crank Calls
I am getting a lot of crank calls but do not want to change my telephone number.
Can I say on my telephone voice greeting that ''this is a disconnected number etc etc''
Is this illegal to do?

Re: Crank Calls
Not illegal, but why would you want to do that? Have you tried signing up for the do not call list (donotc all.gov)? An answering machine or voice mail?

Re: Crank Calls
You could do it, but then you might not get any messages. If it is a problem, ask the phone company to put a tracer on your line.

Re: Crank Calls
Sure, sounds like fun. Or you could give a prank answer, which would even add to the fun.
