Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
My daughter bought a car of craigslist for $600. On the way home it overheated, with a hole in the radiator. Took it to aamco to have it looked at not only did it have a hole in the radiator it had a blown headgasket. Called the guy he claimed to know nothing about either, and said he wasnt refunding the money cause he spent it. She told him she would take him to court over this and also the fact it didnt have s smog inspection. I dont have a lot of money and neither does she. Any help dealing with this guy would be appreciated.

Best thing to do is sue him in small claims court for misrepresentation. Get a judgment against him and then sit on it until he has money. He may have nothing now, but this paper will accumulate interest and the fees for small claims are relatively small to get the judgment. She can also sell the car for scrap to recoup as much as she can.
