Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Dealer destroyed my engine
I had some shifting problems so I took my 97 e320 37k miles to the dealer. I get a phone call that I need this that and what not for $2500. So, I say go ahead and once I get my car back, the engine comes back dirtier than I took it in and they chipped a half dollar size chip off my valve cover. Then while I am driving, I smell like a fried chicken smell. So I stop the car and I take a look at the engine. I check the dipstick and it is unusually dark for my recent oil change. I then am looking aroud the engine bay and I see that a wire connecting to a fuel injector has been sealed into the engine between valve cover and head. I open the oil filling hole and I can actually see the wire. I take the car to the dealer and they just want to take the wire out and they say everything should be alright. But I am sure that my engine has been irreversibly damaged and electrical system somehow destoyed. I want the dealer to replace my all affected parts in the engine because their tech was too incompetent to check my engine after clumsily putting back together the engine.

Re: Dealer destroyed my engine
You should take the engine to another shop and get an opinion and estimate. If problems go back to repairing dealer and point it out. If dealer refuses, notify the Bureau of automotive repairs and sue in small claims court.
