Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
I went to a dealership to see a jeep. I noticed a small leak near the car and asked the salesman about it. He said it wasn't the jeep but probably a different car. I bought the jeep and noticed the check engine light was on. I took it to pepboys and the technician showed me that the monitors were incomplete meaning someone had erased the check engine light. The errors it showed on the jeep were emissions as permanent and a small leak as pending. I returned it and due to a contract they were telling me the fee was 750 when in fact after reading the contract, it was 500. So they kept 500 of my 3000. Is that not dealer fraud? Am I entitled to a full refund of my down payment?

That sounds shady and you should be entitled to a full refund, though I can't see exactly how yet. I'd like to see your contract to be sure, but I believe therein you I would search for a means to show they breached their warranty and obligations such that they need to refund all of your funds.
