Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Dis- Repair
My 18 wheeler broke down in Calif. and needed repair, the truck was losing air pressure and i wanted it fix, when I went to this company I was told that they could fix it , the next day after they looked it over, they give me an estimate of over $6000.00 for more work than I came in there for , saying the brakes have over heated, s cam mounting is broken, and rear axle brakes are leaking air into ppi value at dash. The only thing that is true is that their is air leaking from somewhere at the dash and the brakes. When the company that I'm leased to told the that they would not be okaying the work and I told them that I or my bank would mot pay that much since the truck is a 1995 and is not worth that much, me and the repairman came to a understanding that they would fix the truck for the air leaks and whatever he could fix to get my truch home . So I thought, I drove my truck that night to find me something to eat and back , no problems with the brakes, still hear air releasing, This is now going on the third day and counting and I'm still waiting. Is there anything that I can do, since I'm losing money and they are trying to pressure me into a 6000.00 bill, since they have told me if I move my truck they will call the cops.

Re: Dis- Repair
the tail end of your facts are a bit unclear so far. if you had "some work" done, then you would only be liable for the agreed upon price or reasonable cost of those repairs per se. however, the most important issue here, from what was stated, is that it appears the repair company is trying to illegally distort $6000+ from you even though your truck is operational at this point, at least to your satisfaction to leave and find another more reasonable repair service. if this is the case, you do NOT have to adhere to the threats of "the cops being called" if you do not pay the $6000+. this is civil, contractual or possession matter for services rendered, not a criminal matter. thus, your BEST bet here would be to IMMEDIATELY contact an attorney to resolve this for you ASAP, especially since this "shady" repair service will probably try to at least bill you for "storage" costs each and every day your vehicle remains in their wrongful possession. if you would like URGENT legal assistance in handling this unfortunate matter, contact us directly today.
