Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Dishonest/Overcharge Hair Service
My cousin and my sister referred me to a salon to get hair extension done. They just had theirs done 2 weeks before I did. I came in and told the beautician that I was referred here by my sister who just got her hair extension done on the sides of her face for $50. He was trying to tell me to do the whole head for $500. I told him ''no, I only want a few hair extensions around my face for about
$50, same work that you did for my sister''. He agreed. However, when mine was done, he asked for $150. I was very shocked and surprised and asked him why charged me 3X more. So he said I got more hair extension than my sister. I paid then came home. My sister and I counted our extension pieces and I only got 4 pieces more than her. So my sister called him back, he changed his story and he gave me special hair extension pieces so it cost 3X more. My sister and I went to his shop to talk to him. He said that he gave my sister USED hair extension (someone else already used it before) so it was cheaper and my was brand new.
I felt that he was deceiving and dishonest. He didn't tell me all the details and give me the options so he can rip me off. I want to file a lawsuit. Do you think I have a valid case? Please help me.

Re: Dishonest/Overcharge Hair Service
Yes, absolutely. You did not receive what you requested and ultimately were "ripped off" by this unethical hairdresser, from the facts given. You have contractual and/or tortious remedies available to you under the circumstances. You, or an attorney, should send out a legal demand letter to this individual ASAP, and file a claim in small claims court shortly thereafter if he refuses to settle the matter with you out of court. If you would further assistance, contact us directly.
Re: Dishonest/Overcharge Hair Service
You and your sister should demand he pay for your damages, breach of contract, fraud and deceit. Does your sister know she got used hair. Also raises consumer affairs issues. I would recommend having an attorney draft a demand letter for you, we could handle this.
