Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Dog Breeder not upholding contract agreement

I co-own a purebred dog with the breeder of the dog, that agreed to pay half of the show costs in the showing of the dog. All expenses were paid by myself up through the dog earning its championship title. After the age of two years, hip x-rays were sent into OFA at which time the dog was determined to be mildly dysplastic. Because the dog was in season when the x-rays were taken and it is possible that this can effect the outcome of the x-rays, it was advised that they be taken again in 3 to 4 months. At which time they were, with the same results.

The co-owner at this time refused to pay monies owed for show expenses being that this dog would not be bred due to having hip dysplasia and she wouldn't be making any money on puppies. Nothing in the contract states that her half of show expenses are contingent on a breeding or anything else for that matter.

I'm I entitled to these monies? What's is the statute of limitations in this case?
