Is it leagle to use my own DVR recorder to record Cox Cable programs?

The legality of using video tapes to record programs from your cable or TV signal was upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court decades ago. Using a DVR box to record programs is no different under the law. After all, why would Cox leave the box to you, charge you a fee and then prohibit you from recording program.

What you CANNOT do is then transfer the program and make copies. That is a whole different issue entirely.
