Expiration of workout card purchase

Hello, I bought a card for 30 yoga classes in 6-07. Paid cash and now am being told that I can't use them and they have expired. Is this like a gift certificate in CA that can not expire. I have used most of the classes but I understood that goods purchased with cash could not expire. Thank you.
