Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Fabricated invoice
I recieved, from a contractor, an invoice for services that were never authorized or contracted for. A former employer has sent me this invoice that is fabricated. I assume out of retaliation for a compliant I filed with the California Department of Labor for unpaid wages. What is my recourse if the company uses legal options in an attempt to collect this fraudelent invoice. I have sent a dispute letter to the company.

Re: Fabricated invoice
The burden of proof is on them to prove that there was a contract and that they performed. If they begin a legal action, they could be liable to you for abuse of process.
