Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
I gave my 100% wool sweater to a local dry cleaners. I collected it and went home and saw there 2 holes. when I asked the cleaners they said you did not check while collecting so we can not take responsible for that. After a week I gave my pants ( part of my suit) for dry cleaning and mentioned about my earlier experience on the sweater and the collecting lady said they made a mistake and she will take care of that his time. She checked the pants and gave me a receipt for dry cleaning. When I collected my wife checked the pant and she found a damage in the pant and refused to collect. The owner says they did not do
any mistake and claims that their process will not damage the clothe and the damage was there. I politely said that your staff checked the clothe before giving a receipt and asked him to pay for the damage. But he refused and threatened me to to sue him if I wanted.
Please advise.

Get a new dry cleaner.
What have they informed you of? What do they gave posted? What is on your ticket?
Even if you had a winning case, your route would be small claims, at vest you have a couple hundred dollars in damages. You would have to balance cost benefits with a chance of losing.
Time to get a new dry cleaner. Even if you are able to convince a small claims judge that the caused the damages, you probably won't get more than the cost of replacement for the damaged clothing and perhaps the cost for the dry cleaning.
