gift certificate cash refund?

I received a gift certificate for a cooking class almost 2 years ago. I did try to enroll in a class but kept running into problems - full, didn't work with my schedule, etc. Now I'm so frustrated and feel that I have been treated so badly by the school that I don't want to take a class there anymore. Are there any laws about refunding my certificate for cash? There is no policy stated on the card or on their web site and my parents (who gave me the card) said nothing was mentioned about returns. What are my rights?

You have the right to take the class, nothing more.
