Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Do I have to give the car back?
I puchased a car in CA on November 8. I had a co-signer, we left with the car that day. On December 1, we received a certified letter stating that the dealer was unable to locate financing, and that we would have to return the car. Upon contacting the dealer, we were told, to wait until we heard back from them (before giving the car back). We still have not heard back from the dealer. I have no idea what to do. All I want is to keep the original terms of the contract. As the dealer did not give me notice within ten days of the date of the contract, what are my rights here?

Re: Do I have to give the car back?
You received a certified letter, but you responded with a phone call. Write certified letters instead. Tell them they have no right to demand the return of the car and where should you send your payment. Remind them that yo-yo sales are against the law and you have been in contact with lawyers and if anything happens to the car, you'll sue. Then, go take all of the sales paperwork out of the car and bring it inside.
