I hae a warranty on repair work done on my car. when i took the car in for some follow-up work, the shop had been sold. the new owner said because the old shop was a llc the warranties don't transfer to the new owner. is this new owner bs or can i take any action to get the work done?

You would need to know more information about the transaction. The key question is whether the new owner bought the LLC, or bought the shop FROM the LLC. If the new owner bought the LLC, he bought the responsibility for the warranties. If he bought the shop FROM the LLC, then you would have to find out if the purchase/sale agreement included liabilities or not. If yes, he is responsible for the warranties, if not, they stayed with the LLC. Then you would have to get the repairs done and take the LLC to small claims court to recover. If the owners of the LLC took the purchase money and closed the LLC, then you can sue them for the repairs that should have been under warranty.
