Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
I have hired a law firm to work withbour lender on our behalf concerning our loan and the violations in our loan papaer work. My question is what do I do if the law firm goes out of business before they have finished negotiations with our lender? This started to concern me when they began getting hard to get in touch with, I DID GET AN EMAIL FROM THEM last Thursday, but haven't spoken to anyone since the Thursday before that.

Hopefully you are just having problems communicating with them. What makes you think they are going out of business? Do they not answer the phone when you call or is the process taking too long. First I would make sure the name and bar number of the lawyer that runs the firm and then I would give him a call to discuss your concerns. Unfortunately the banks take far too long to process modifications and 4 to six months is not unusual. If you have a hard time getting a hold of the firm I would fax them a letter demanding a prompt call back and that if you don't hear from them in a couple days you will complain to the State Bar. The State Bar takes these kind of complaints very seriously. I would also suggest that you get a copy of what they have done to date so if you need to replace them you have your file
