Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
My husband and I had some bathroom counters redone by Granite Transformations. When the work was complete we were asked to initilize a form saying the work was satisfactory. After the contractor/installer had left we noticed subtle problems with one sink, it was off axis and one of the facuets was in equal with the other. We called the next day and the contractor returned but was unwilling to repair it to our satisfaction. We then contacted the President of the company through e-mail, with pictures of the problem within a few days. That was in January and our problem has still not been resloved. My question is since we initialized the paper saying all was satisfactory do we have any legal standing to get this fixed?

It is not unusual for problems with construction to arise days, weeks or even months after the completion of the work. While the paper saying all was satisfactory may be of some evidentiary value, so are the pictures that you took and other evidence of the defects.
Write a letter to the company telling them that they have 10 days to agree to fix the problems before taking legal action. If they do not comply, I would get an estimate for repairs, file a complaint with the contractors state license board and the Better Business Bureau. If the repair cost is under $7500, take them to small claims court.
