Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Improper Hardwood Flooring Install

Several months ago we had hardwood floors installed in our home. The hardwood floor planks started coming up.We had a ind inspector come out to inspect the floors. His conclusion; improper install by the contractor. He didnt acclimate the wood for 48 hours before install and ''all the floor'' needs to be replaced. What steps do i need to take to to go after the licensed contractor and should i hire an atty?

Re: Improper Hardwood Flooring Install

First of all, have you given the contractor the opportunity to correct the problem? If not, you should contact the contractor and see if the contractor is willing to negotiate or fix the problem.

If you do not achieve a satisfactory result from settlement negotiations, then you have two basic choices: (1) filing a complaint with the contractors state license board; and (2) file a lawsuit. Hiring an attorney is always advisable, but not legally required.

What is the best court of action for you? You haven't posted enough information for a full analysis. You should at least contact a local construction attorney for a consultation.
