Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
This is an incident from October 2012. I parked my car in a lot behind a coffee
shop in Tempe, AZ. I tried paying at the meter, which wasn't working. I called
the phone number on the meter. They told me to come to the front office of the
building and that they would issue me a temporary permit to put on the car. When
I went to the office, they instead told me that they had called the towing
company and asked that no cars be towed from that lot that evening.
My car was towed none the less. By the time I noticed this, the front office and
the towing company's place was closed. I had to go there again the next day to
get my car back. After some persuasion they agreed to release my car for free.
However, they refused to pay me back for my car towing. I wrote a formal letter
to them in November 2012 asking me to pay the (modest) amount I needed to spend
on the cab. I did not hear back from them. Is there anything that can be done?

Assuming you live in California and this happened in Tempe, it is a AZ cause of action under AZ law in AZ court... Plus you would have to determine costs of all that in the case you lose... Or go through all that and win for taxi fare????
