legal age to enter a contract

Do you have to be 18 years old to have your name on car purchase contract as the primary owner if you are paying cash for a used car while you are 17 years old?

At 17 a car can be registered in your name.

You don't, but the seller would be a fool to sell to a 17 year old without the signature of an adult who buys on his behalf. The vehicle may be registered in the name of the 17 year old alone.

You may register the car under 17 year old name, however, contractual relationship with 17 year old may be considered unenforceable.
