Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Is it legal for a person who graduated with a PhD from a non-accredited, non-recognized school to call themselves Doctor? Specifically this person got a PhD from Clayton University in St. Louis MO which according to the MO DOE was never recognized or accredited by the DOE. It closed in the early 90's.
This person claims to be a Naturopathic Doctor and has registered Wash. DC as a ND. They have the title ND, NP and Dr. on their school and product website, books, marketing material and health products.. In California they practice as a NP (Naturopathic Practitioner) but call themselves Doctor in their seminars and to their clients. They also claim to be a Clinical Nutritionist with an accreditation from the ANMA. This organization is also not recognized by any Dept of Education and was listed in a lawsuit for fraudulently providing certifications without any kind of verification of qualifications.
I just want to know what I may be getting into.
Thanks

So what is your question? If you're sick, see a licensed physician.
This is frequently a question of pseudo doctors wanting to present their credentials to the world as being a doctor. There is no clear answer.
