liablilty for unauthorized bancard payments
In August,2002,my tenants cat was injured. When to the emergency vet with tenant. Cat needed emergency surgery. Vet would not begin the surgery without a credit card. Tenant did not have her card with her. I let them use my card temproaraly, just until tenant could go home and get her card. Vet agreed to transfer all charges onto tenants card. Tenant brought her card in, as well as mine so they could credit my card, and debit hers. Tenant gave me back card, with reciept for credit of 1879.00. Unfortunatly, the cat died. Months later, upon reviewing my bank statement, I found a charge of 1879.00 from vet. Vet swiped the wrong card,tenants signiture was on my card, assuming it was her card. She was never charged. Now I want my $$ credited to my card, and the carges to go to the tenant. Vet is holding me responsible for charges, as well as threatening to sue me for remaining charges that tenant has not yet paid. Tenant won't speak to me or the Vet. Can't dispute charges throught bank, because it's past 90 days. Am I liable for vet bill, and can I take vet to small claims court for the misuse of my card?

Your best bet is to go to small claims agains teneant.
