Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
we no longer know what to do?
My parents do not speak english and have very little knowledge of the legal system. I feel that their vulnerabilty has been exploited by several people including a company called A-1 services. In 1999 my parents bought a mobile home thinking they were going to give their kids more room and privacy. The mobile home has brought nothing but problems ever since we moved here. The most notable problem is the leaks all over the roof. When we got enough money we hired a compnay called A-1 services to come make all the repairs to our house. The company took every shortcut they could have taken to cut costs including sending people that were not qualified to do the work and in return we got some bad results. Soon after we realized that we still had the same problem with the roof even thought A-1 services claimed they had fixed it. We called and the came several times but eventually they stopped returning our calls and left us with the original issue. I went away for college and came back to see my mom stressing out about something that we paid to get fixed. Due to that leak we are now living with a huge hole in our kitchen because the leak is so severe that our ceiling collapsed in that area. Can we file a lawsuit over this against A-1?

Re: we no longer know what to do?
You have three years from the date of the negligence to file a lawsuit for damage to property. You have four years if there was a written agreement for a breach of contract claim. If only an oral agreement, then you have two years. You didn't state when the "repairs" were made.
