Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Macy's purchased/returned question...
I recently purchased a Tag Heuer at Macy's, an hour later I returned it after my sister got something else for my dad. A month later, I received a call from the police dept in that city stating the watch that I returned was a replicate or fake. I told the police who took the report what/why I returned the watch. I told the police that I didn't know anything about that and the officer sir said because I was the last person who returned the watch. So they called me and I am consider as subject 1...What does that mean and what am I suppose to do?
I am 40 and have a prior, was charged 'sending threating communication to x-gf's' 7 years ago...it was a felony and federal because it was thru post office

You didn't learn from your last experience not to talk to cops? If they arrest you, say nothing and retain an attorney if you can.
