Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Magazine company will not let me cancel account
I was talked into buying a subscription of Magazines by a company in Iowa. Three days after the order, I canceled. A month later I started receiving magazines and then noticed a bill to my credit card December. I then tried to cancel again and the company said that they do not have any records of me canceling the first time and that I cannot cancel now because it is past the cancelation period. They also said that I must pay or my account will go to collections and will ruin my credit. They refuse to cancel my account and stated that I must pay the $1,000+ bill. I am mailing a certified letter tomrrow to the company explaining the the situation and requesting for it to be canceled. What else can I do cancel the account and not let it affect my credit???

Re: Magazine company will not let me cancel account
Do you have any writing that refers to the company's cancellation policy? What were you told about the cancellation policy? Further, how do magazine subscriptions cost $1,000.00.
