Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Major Electronics store sold me an item, different item in box, won't exchange
I recently purchased a Canon 40D
digital camera from a major
electronics retailer. When I opened
the box the camera inside was a
Canon 30D, a camera of $400 lesser
value. I immediately returned to the
store with the item and my receipt
and explained the situation. They
said they couldn't exchange it for the
correct item yet because they needed
to do an investigation. I called Canon
and they say it couldn't happen on
their end because the 2 cameras are
packaged in different locations. I
called the retailer back and let them
know what Canon said, and they said
they would call me back in 2 days.
Now I feel like I am getting the run
around when I call them. What can I
do?

If you bought it with a credit card, write a letter to the retailer and cc the credit card company and ask the credit card company about their chargeback policies.
