Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

mechanic shop

I am self-employed as a ''carrier'' in the trucking business. My oil tank trailer has been in the manufacture shop for repair since July 2, 2007 and is still in the shop as of today. The verbal agreement was to finish 2-3 weeks and I have seen other trailers get fixed after my trailer has been sitting there. The shop is still charging me the full amount of $9000 and this is my only income which they know. Everytime I called or drove by, the trailer was the same or they tell me another 2-3- weeks. What are my rights about paying the full bill or about down time I'm losing every day just because they kept pushing my trailer to the side when they said about 2-3- weeks from the beginning? Do I pay the whole amount and then sue them, or do I pay them for whatever California Law stipulates about after so many days then...? I had to borrow money from relatives just because they took too long and putting other trailers to repair after mine. They are just now starting to work on it and give me a quote.

You need to give more information. Why is it taking so long? Is it due to a lack of parts? Have they ordered parts? We cant tell you what your rights are until you know why the repairs are taking so long.
