Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Misled into unknowingly sign a contract
My wife enrolled our son in Karate classes. She was then asked if she'd like automatic credit card billing, to which she agreed. It turns out that it was a one year contract. But they did not tell her that she was signing a one year contract. A few months later, she stopped the classes, after having told them. Now we're getting harassed with collection agencies, lawsuits and bad credit issues because we refused to pay their bills. They claim that we have to pay because we signed the contract, even though we were misled at the time of signing.

While your wife may not have understood she was signing a one year contract, it was likely shown in the agreement. Like many workout center contracts, you are probably stuck. Call if you would like to discuss. Don Holben 800-685-6950

Are you sure that the contract is silent for the time period?
