Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Mistakenly credited for vet services

After having my cat put down, I went to settle the bill and the front office told me I had a credit of $390. I already had almost $900 charged for treatments. A month later I used the credit to have a check up for my other two cats. When I went to the front office they again said I had credit and would deduct from there. Now 2 months from the inital ''credit'' they say they made a mistake. I was under the impression that this was credit that I had for services because they do not refund charges. I never would have gone back to this vet if not only to use credit which I thought was already charged. They were very cold and unclear about the fees for the cat that was put down.I have reciepts saying I have credit. Do I have to now pay for these services even though I only went back there because I had credit and they admitted this was there mistake 2 months later?

Re: Mistakenly credited for vet services

If you were to add up all of your payments and charges for the services the vet rendered, the vet could reasonably argue that you are responsible for any positive balance, despite the mistake.
