Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Help!

A modeling agency extorted me for money and never delivered anything they promised me (headshots, zed cards, representation, etc). I gave them $600. I can't afford to sue them nor do I know if that's possible for such a small amount. What can I do to get my money back without having to SPEND money?!?! Advice is MUCH appreciated.

Re: Help!

Go to small claims court. It will cost you less than $100 to file the lawsuit and serve it. You can even ask the court to waive the fees for you.

Re: Help!

In addition to what Mr. Stein suggests, if you have to pay filing fees, when you win, it will be awarded as part of the judgment. The difficulty will then be to collect the money. Also, report them to the Better Business Bureau. That's not good for their business if that's all there is to it.
