Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Motion for Protective Order to protect personally identifying information

The Plaintiff and I have decided to mutually release our claims against each other, yet prior to doing so I need and want to file a motion for a protective order as sensitive personally identifying information about me (SS#, etc.) was included in the Plaintiff's Complaint, and with identity theft rampant I want to file such a motion to have the entire Complaint, or at minimum this specific identifying information, sealed from the public or completely destroyed.

I am having a difficult time finding Califorjnia statues which define the nature under which I may file this protective order. I see mention in the discovery statues, Code of Civ Procedure 2030.090, about the right to file a protective order, yet information in the Complaint I'm not sure can be considered as discovery for motion filing purposes. Can it?

Does anyone know of appropriate and applicable statues, laws, etc., under which I may file my motion for protective order?

Thank you.

Re: Motion for Protective Order to protect personally identifying information

File a stipulation, or if they will not agree a motion, to redact (edit) the personally identifying information as required by Cal. Rule of Court 1.20(b)(2).
