Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Hi I paid a college student 250 dolloars for 10 tennis lessons three months ago. At that time she said it is valid for two months. I only took two lessons in the past three months and I wanted to get the rest of the money back. She insisted our agreement is that the lessons had to be used in two months. However, she charges per lesson is 35 dollars so I think I can get my money back if I count per lesson for two lessons. She refuses to give me back the money. Is there anything I can do.

You would have to sue her in small claims court. If the contrat was in writing and was clear as to when you had use the entire lset of lessons, you would have no chance of success. If it was only oral, you would have a chance of arguing that because of Quantum Meruit, what you paid for, it is not fair for her to keep the big chunk of money, since she did not earn the entire sum of money.
