Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Past Repossession - Old debt
Three years ago I filed for bankruptcy, when doing so, they were adamant that my car would probably be taken to cover some debt. Coincidentally, two days later I received an offer from a car loan company saying they recevied my name in a recent backruptcy and that they would finance for a new vehicle. Afraid the court would take my car and I would have no way to get to work, I took the car loan company up on their offer and ending up signing a terrible lease - with around 23% interest. Not only that - the car had troubles with the undercarriage as soon as i drove it off the lot and had to pay almost $500.00 to fix it.I couldnt make the payments and I voluntarily elected for them to repossess the car. They sold it at auction for way less than I took it - and now I owe $6,000 -7,000!!! And to top it all off, they never did take my car in the bankruptcy and it was all for nothing!! The car loan place contacted my parents about my ''whereabouts'' as I am sure they are trying to locate--name removed-- Any--name removed--for a lost soul??

They are trying to serve you with a lawsuit for a deficiency judgment. They are entitled to this. Sorry.
