Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Pet Adoption

We adopted a puppy from a lady (Pam) that has an animal rescue and another lady(Connie) that was fostering the puppy at her home almost a month ago. We had to fill out applications, have them speak with the landlord, and she came over to do a home inspection of the apartment to make sure it was suitable. After everything checked out the puppy was now ours. We told the 2 ladies that we would email them and send pictures when we could. I have talked to Pam once and Connie twice since we have had the puppy, but they are calling more to check up on the puppy and have left a rude message on my cell because I haven't called her back right away and she has even contacted the landlord because she is irritated that she couldn't get ahold of us when she wanted to and she even said that she was going to drive all the way to the apartment if she couldn't get a hold of us. I know that she wants what is best for the puppy, but she is ours now and I don't want to be constantly harrassed just because we don't keep in contact with them every week. Does she have a right for us to costantly give them up dates or do we have a right to tell them to leave us alone?

Re: Pet Adoption

In theory, you could file for a restraining order. I am not sure a judge would grant one. You may want to send them a letter telling them that they are harassing you and asking them to stop. If you want a little more "oomph" behind it, pay an attorney for an hour or two to take care of it for you.

If that does not work, file for a restraining order and see what happens.
