Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Just picked up my car from an auto body shop who has had my car since 4/10/10. The paint job is terrible, The airbags do not match the color of the original ones and the "airbags" light turned on after driving my car for a block after leaving the shop. There is scratches, bubbles, grooves, and bumps on the paint, my drivers side speaker is out, the others are terribly distorted. I suspect he may have replaced my speakers. The Upholstery lining in the trunk was completely detached until I pointed it out so now I'm concerned that they have taken other parts. They advised that one of the bolts on my rim was stripped and the other was loose which it was not at the time they were dropped off. I don't understand why they would have removed the tires to begin with. The scoop on the hood of my car is already coming off, I didn't feel comfortable enough to drive it on the freeway, I had to take the streets. This is only what I have noticed so far along with other small details, and I have only had my car back for about 3 hours. I don't know what my rights are and I feel unsafe driving my car in it's current condition.

Contact the California Bureau of Automotive Repair. Meanwhile, if you need to get something fixed ASAP to be safe, you might pay a different mechanic to fix it, have the new mechanic document the problem thoroughly, and try to get your repair costs back from the body shop.
