Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Problem Vacation Home Rental
Last week we rented a pricey vacation home adjacent to a California Beach. It was advertised as beautiful well kept home (housekeeper included) well appointed kitchen, clean/sanitary, and a number of other statements that were misleading.
The home was more than filthy. Bed linens were soiled badly with body fluids from previous tenants, algae in one tub, mold, mildew in other. Patios too filthy to use. Multiple items in ill repair. Not enough towels to allow for one each. Pots and pans were caked with dried food and grease. There was so much dirt in the stained, damaged carpet that my grandaughter could not crawl for 5 minutes before needing new clothing and a bath. My elderly father became ill with dysentary, presumably from the unsanitary environment. In addition, there was a new home being constructed...apparently in progress for several months before our inquiry, which was less than 6 feet away, with pounding going from 7am to 4pm daily, This had not been disclosed to us. We have complained to the owners (who apparently had hired people to manage, who hadn't) They are now, after I have presented numerous disgusting photos of the presentation, ignoring my request for a refund. Do we have any recourse?

Re: Problem Vacation Home Rental
If you paid with a credit card, you should try to request a refund through the credit card company. If that won't work, contact me to discuss other options.
Good luck,
Ben
