Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Puppy Sale

I sold a purebred puppy for $300,well below maret value. On the contract it stated the price of puppy $300. I hand wrote in that the buyer paid $150 that day and will pay the remaining $150 when registration papers are furnished. Due to a problem now I cannot register the puppy and will not be able to. I offered to take puppy back and refund the $150, but the buyer refused saying that he will sue me for the registration papers. Does he have a case?

Re: Puppy Sale

He may have a case. The problem is that if you cannot get the registration papers, the court cannot force you to get them. The question would be why you cannot get the registration papers. If it is due to your fault, he may be entitled to damages. If it is not due to your fault, you will probably win.
