Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
After purchase package checks
Is it legal for stores to check your purchases when you are leaving the store? This is common at warehouse stores such as Costco and Sam's Club but I am seeing it at other stores lately. My impression was that once I purchased something it became my personal property. Do the stores have the right to search customers without cause to beleive they have shoplifted? Thank-you.

Re: After purchase package checks
This is not a search of the person, but a check on the purchases you made. It is legal.
